四年前的今日，香港民主女神像在中文大學的文化廣場中正式豎立。女神像的建造動員了超過六十名義工，由結構草圖、物料採購、3D檔案建模階段，到打印、銲接和雕刻工序都是在七日間完成。這批來自各行各業的義工本來素未謀面，製作期間卻合作無間，為一個理想放下了無數的分歧。在八月三十一日，香港民主女神開始了她在香港四十三日的旅程，與香港市民在集會、遊行和獅子山上共同進退。

Four years ago today, the Lady Liberty Hong Kong statue stood tall and proud in the Cultural Square of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Over sixty volunteers from various walks of life, many of whom had never met before, collaborated harmoniously in the creation of this statue. From initial sketches, material procurement, 3D modeling to printing, welding, and sculpting, everything was accomplished within just seven days. On August 31st, the Lady Liberty Hong Kong began her 43-day journey in the city, standing alongside the citizens of Hong Kong in rallies, marches, and atop Lion Rock.

四年後的今日，香港已經面目全非，當年有份參與製作的義工們和無數義士一樣，早已從運動前線中引退；在獄中仍然有人在面對無了期的審判和刑期，在牆外和海外亦有手足要適應突如其來的新生活；他們都因為在社會中已經失去了發言權，或從未獲得媒體報導，如同生活在「新香港」的影子中一樣，成為了鮮有人察覺的存在。在付出難以估計的代價後，他們只有「榮」卻沒有「光」。

Four years on, Hong Kong has transformed in ways many could not have imagined. Many of those volunteers, like countless other heroes, have stepped back from the frontlines of the movement. Some face indefinite trials and sentences in prison, while others adapt to unexpected new lives either within or outside of Hong Kong. Their voices may have been silenced, receiving little or no media attention, akin to living in the shadows of the “New Hong Kong”, becoming figures few recognize. After paying an incalculable price, they have the “glory” but without the “shine.”

Lady Liberty HK 為了紀念這批無光義士的存在，以及港人此四年間的艱辛旅程、我們推出四週年極黑版香港民主女神像 <Glory Without Shine>。極黑版女神像的表面塗層特選用能吸收近所有光線的「黑色無雙」塗料，將女神像的外型特徵在黑暗中隱藏起來，彰顯我們失去了光芒，但仍然是榮耀的存在。真正的價值，往往是隱藏在看不見的地方。

「黑色無雙」是日本光陽東方株式會社（Koyo Orient Japan）發布的號稱世界最黑的水性丙烯酸塗料「Musou Black」，吸光程度最高達99.2％。黑色無雙是利用特殊細微顆粒的達到表面沉降覆膜，表面呈現無數細微孔，光線射入之後無法從表面反射出來，從而達到極高的吸光效果。由於塗料令物料表面幾乎完全不反射光線，所以物體的輪廓如處身於黑影中，難以被肉眼捕捉。

To commemorate the unlit heroes and the arduous journey of Hong Kongers over these four years, Lady Liberty HK presents the 4th-anniversary ultra-black edition of the statue: <Glory Without Shine>. This edition features a coating of the world’s darkest paint, “Musou Black”, hiding its features in darkness, symbolizing our luminous essence even when stripped of our light. True value often lies in the unseen.

“Musou Black” is a water-based acrylic paint from Koyo Orient Japan, claimed to be the world’s darkest, absorbing up to 99.2% of visible light. It achieves this effect using ultra-fine particles, resulting in countless microscopic pores on the surface that trap incoming light, preventing reflection. Objects coated in it appear almost shadow-like, difficult to discern with the naked eye.

<Glory Without Shine> 高16厘米，每一件都是我們團隊成員親手製作，從成形、打磨到噴漆，每一步都充滿了匠心與熱情，這不僅確保了產品的品質，更讓每一座雕像都流露出獨特的溫度。為了保護脆弱的極黑塗層，令雕像可以長期保持視覺效果，每個極黑版女神像都特意附送一個高17厘米的亞克力圓筒形展示盒，讓您可以從各個角度欣賞她昂首闊步的形態。 <Glory Without Shine>不僅僅是一件藝術品，更是我們歷史、勇氣和期望的象征。其深沉、吸光的特性，正如那些默默付出、在黑暗中尋找光明的香港人。透過這一作品，我們希望與全世界分享他們的故事、他們的抗爭和他們的希望。我們選擇在這片暗黑中暫時隱藏，避過風暴，但心中的光芒永不熄滅。當時機成熟，我們將重拾光明，照亮未來的道路。

如以往所有香港民主女神產品一樣，一部份售賣<Glory Without Shine>的收益將直接捐於人道支援用途，幫助在囚人士家族及獲釋人士繼續生活。其餘收益將會用作支援Lady Liberty HK團隊繼續運作，在國際間以文藝交流推動香港民主運動。

Each <Glory Without Shine> statue stands 16cm tall, meticulously handcrafted by our team members. Every step, from molding, polishing, to painting, is filled with dedication and passion, ensuring the quality and a unique warmth in each statue. To protect the delicate ultra-black coating and preserve its visual effect, each statue comes with a 17cm tall acrylic cylindrical case, allowing admiration from all angles.

<Glory Without Shine> is more than an artwork. It symbolizes our history, courage, and aspirations. Its deep, light-absorbing characteristics mirror the silent sacrifices and the quest for light among the people of Hong Kong. Through this piece, we hope to share their stories, struggles, and hopes with the world. Though we may momentarily retreat into the darkness, the inner light never fades. When the time is right, we will reclaim the light to illuminate our path forward.

As with all Lady Liberty HK products, a portion of the proceeds from <Glory Without Shine> sales will be donated for humanitarian aid, supporting the families of the incarcerated and those released. The remaining funds will assist the ongoing operations of the Lady Liberty HK team, promoting the democratic movement of Hong Kong through artistic and cultural exchanges internationally.
